Our world is made up of 195 countries, each with its own unique flag, language, culture, and history. A country's flag is one of its most powerful symbols โ it represents the nation's values, history, and identity.
Flags use colors and symbols to tell a story. Red often represents courage or the blood of heroes. White stands for peace or purity. Blue symbolizes the sea, sky, or freedom. Green represents nature, agriculture, or hope. Stars, animals, and geometric shapes all carry special meanings too.
The world's countries are organized into five continents: Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania. Asia is the largest, with over 4.5 billion people โ nearly 60% of the entire world's population! Africa has the most countries โ 54 in total. The smallest country in the world is Vatican City in Europe, with an area of just 0.44 square kilometres.
Every country has a capital city โ the city where the national government is based. Some capitals are the largest cities in the country, like Tokyo in Japan and Beijing in China. Others are surprisingly small โ the capital of Australia is Canberra, not Sydney!
Korea's capital is Seoul (์์ธ), home to nearly 10 million people. The Korean flag, the Taegukgi (ํ๊ทน๊ธฐ), features a red and blue taeguk symbol representing balance, and four black trigrams representing heaven, earth, water, and fire. It is one of the most meaningful and beautiful flags in the world!
