I think it's good for Twitter to accept its users' request to give them trust of the platform.
But, beforehand, Twitter have to go over pros and cons of brining into new features.
As some people and experts are worried, a twit can be editted to include harrassment and misinformation.
Then it means that the edit button can be abused to transparency.
It may exacerbate any other problems that Twitter haven't faced by not using the edit button for ages.
It's a huge challenge to adopt a new feature that is controversial and can be against Twitter's characteristics that has been maintaining for ages.
