Did you know that bananas are now being grown in a new location in South Korea? Usually, bananas are grown in warm and tropical places, but now they're being grown in Jecheon, a city known for its cold winter weather!  
It took three years of hard work to grow the bananas, but last year, they finally harvested four bunches of bananas. However, these bananas were too small to be sold in stores. But this year, the farmers were able to grow about 50 banana trees that have all borne fruit!  
Normally, bananas can be harvested in about a year when grown in Korea. However, in Jecheon's cold winter climate, banana fruits cannot be harvested until 17 months later, which is five months longer than usual.  
Isn't it amazing how we can grow bananas in a place where it's usually too cold? Who knows, maybe one day we'll be able to grow other tropical fruits in new places too!
