Everything we eat and use comes from nature. Carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, pork, fish… they all come from nature. The desk we use when studying is made of wood. Wood comes from trees found in forests. The water we use also comes from lakes and rivers. In fact, we are all part of nature!  
In places where the environment is clean, people can eat clean food, breathe clean air, and use clean water. But in most places, the environment has become polluted and dirty. How did our planet become polluted?Nature has the ability to clean itself. Nature can get rid of some pollution on its own. But people have created more pollution than nature can handle. A lot of products are made in factories, and often end up as garbage in nature. In the process of making products, factories release harmful gases into the air and bad chemicals into the water supply.  
In the end, all the harmful chemicals make their way to people. So what should we do going forward? We'll go into more detail in the next story.
