This is the 8th time the Santa Run brought happiness to the streets of Budapest. Happy runners filled the city on Sunday, December 3rd. It was a fantastic event to see! More than 2,000 people from all over the country dressed up as Santa and ran different distances – 5 kilometers, 2300 meters, or 980 meters. The last two routes went through the shopping street.  
We hoped for some snow, but even if it didn't snow naturally, there was (fake) snow at the starting and finishing lines. You could start cheering for the Santas at 11 am when the family race began. There were also festive runs at noon and 2 pm.  
Guess what? You could even join the run by signing up on the spot at the competition center. It cost HUF 7,000, and you got a Santa costume to keep! Cool, right? Whether you run or just watch, you could also leave gifts for children. There was a big sack to put toys or school supplies in. These gifts would go to children and families who need them.
