Before the 2024 Paris Olympics, many Parisians are asking people not to visit the city. They are sharing their messages on social media like TikTok. The New York Times reported that many videos warn that visiting Paris during the Olympics will be unpleasant.  
A 24-year-old college student in Paris, named Leo Nora on TikTok, posted a video saying, “If you plan to come to Paris for the Olympics, don’t come.” She said Paris would be very dangerous during the event. Another TikTok user, Miranda Starcevic, a 31-year-old in Paris, also posted a video. She said, “Don’t come to Paris. Cancel everything.” She claimed nobody in Paris wants the Olympics.  
These videos have been watched tens of thousands to over a million times. Parisians are upset about rising prices and problems with accommodation because of many tourists. Subway fares have nearly doubled, and other prices are going up. There are also concerns about traffic, strikes, terrorism, and crimes targeting tourists. The Summer Olympics will be in Paris from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
