~라고 들었다.
PART 1 INPUT기본 개념과 핵심 패턴
Definition & Nuance의미와 쓰임새
Used to report information that someone else gave you, especially when you are not sure if it is true or when you want to share what you heard.
Core NuanceThis is the passive form of 'someone told me,' so the focus is on the message, not the speaker. It sounds a little more polite or formal, and Koreans often use it when passing on information from a boss, doctor, teacher, or an unnamed source.
~라고 들었다, ~라는 얘기를 들었다, ~라고 전해 들었다
누가 말했는지보다 '어떤 내용을 들었는지'에 초점을 둘 때 씁니다.
직접 확인한 사실이 아니라 누군가에게 전해 들은 정보임을 부드럽게 전달합니다.
회사, 병원, 학교처럼 공식적인 상황에서 특히 자연스럽게 쓰입니다.
Common Patterns & Structures자주 쓰이는 패턴&구조
I was told that + 주어 + 동사
들은 내용을 문장 형태로 전달할 때 씁니다.
I was told that the meeting starts at 3 p.m.회의가 오후 3시에 시작한다고 들었어요.
I was told to + 동사원형
'~하라는 말을 들었다'처럼 지시나 조언을 전할 때 씁니다.
I was told to wait outside the office.사무실 밖에서 기다리라고 들었어요.
Common Mistakes이렇게 쓰면 틀려요
✕ I was told that the meeting will start at 3.
✓ I was told that the meeting would start at 3.
'was told'가 과거이므로 뒤 문장도 시제를 맞춰 'would'를 씁니다.
Since 'was told' is past tense, the following verb usually shifts to past too (will → would).
✕ I was told me that he is sick.
✓ I was told that he was sick.
수동태이므로 'me'를 다시 쓰지 않고, 시제도 과거로 맞춥니다.
'I was told' is already passive, so don't add 'me' again. Also match the tense to the past.
