PART 1 INPUT기본 개념과 핵심 패턴

Definition & Nuance의미와 쓰임새

Used to say you are very annoyed or frustrated with something because it has happened too many times or gone on too long.

Core NuanceLiterally, 'sick and tired' combines two strong feelings — feeling ill and feeling exhausted — to show how deeply bothered you are. Native speakers use it when their patience is completely gone and they can't stand something anymore. It often appears when complaining about repeated situations, like bad weather, annoying habits, or the same problem happening again and again.

~에 진절머리가 나다, ~에 넌더리가 나다, ~가 지긋지긋하다

  • 'sick'과 'tired'를 함께 써서 '아플 정도로 지쳤다'는 아주 강한 짜증을 표현합니다.
  • 같은 일이 반복되어 더 이상 참을 수 없을 때 사용하는 불평 표현입니다.
  • 친구나 가족처럼 편한 사이에서 자주 쓰이고, 공식적인 자리에서는 잘 쓰지 않습니다.

Common Patterns & Structures자주 쓰이는 패턴&구조

  1. be sick and tired of + 명사/동명사

지겨운 대상이 사물이나 상황일 때 명사나 -ing 형태를 씁니다.

I'm sick and tired of this rainy weather. 이 비 오는 날씨에 진짜 진절머리 나.

  2. be sick and tired of + 사람 + -ing

누군가의 반복되는 행동에 짜증이 날 때 씁니다.

I'm sick and tired of him complaining every day. 매일 불평하는 그 사람한테 정말 넌더리가 나.

Common Mistakes이렇게 쓰면 틀려요

  • ✕ I'm sick and tired to wait for the bus.

✓ I'm sick and tired of waiting for the bus.

    뒤에는 'to부정사'가 아니라 'of + 동명사(-ing)'가 옵니다.

This expression takes 'of + -ing', not 'to + verb'.

  • ✕ I'm sick and tired of he always lies.

✓ I'm sick and tired of him always lying.

'of' 뒤에 사람을 쓸 때는 목적격(him)과 동명사(-ing) 형태를 씁니다.

After 'of', use the object form (him/her) plus the -ing form of the verb.
